Looking for a Wedding Photographer

by Planning a Wedding on May 7, 2011

With the reception and ceremony venue pretty much sorted, our next priority is finding a photographer.

If I could have anyone, I’d get Jessica Jones – a photographer based in Blenheim. A friend pointed me at her blog on which she posts about each wedding she does, and the photos are AMAZING.
Check out her wedding photo gallery.
Her and her husband can also shoot as a team, so they get photos of the same moments in time of both the guys and girls getting ready, as well as the same shots from different angles and perspectives. Very cool.

No doubt she’s already booked out for Waitangi weekend next year, but I wonder what they’d charge to travel to Tekapo?? :P

Tekapo Wedding Photographers

Back in reality, I’m having a hunt for local photographers, or at least ones that have experience in Tekapo. There’s a few obvious locations for photos, but it would also be good to have local knowledge of the best spots around.

Back Down at Tekapo – Ceremony Options

by Planning a Wedding on March 27, 2011

Church of the Good Shepherd

Church of the Good Shepherd

After a slight interruption from the Christchurch Earthquake, we had the chance to make it back down to Tekapo to explore wedding ceremony options.

Peppers Clearwater covers off the wedding reception, but we didn’t have time as we passed through last time, to look at where we would hold the actual wedding itself.

Wedding plans take a back seat

March 7, 2011

The Christchurch Earthquake on 22nd of February has brought everything to a standstill. Suddenly anything else seems so trivial. We are extremely lucky – all our family and friends are safe, we have 95% of a roof over our head (our chimney fell down causing a bit of damage) and we both still have a [...]

Tekapo Wedding Venues Review

February 18, 2011

We drove from Wanaka to Tekapo, passing by the beautiful Lake Pukaki and the stunning sights of Mt Cook. Tekapo is a 2 ½ to 3 hour drive from Christchurch, making it a much easier and affordable option for our Christchurch guests. The final stop of our journey was at the Peppers Bluewater Resort.

Wanaka Wedding Venues Review

February 17, 2011

The following day we headed to Wanaka, first stop Edgewater. We were randomly greeted at reception by a girl I went to primary school with (you can’t go anywhere!), and then met with the wedding coordinator, Devin Bosley. Shame on me – Devin Bosley was a girl – so my Charlie’s Angels theme really wouldn’t [...]

Review of Wedding Venues in Queenstown

February 15, 2011

Our weekend away down South was great, and while we haven’t made a decision yet, we now have a much better handle on what we’re looking for in a wedding venue. Queenstown We ended up starting at the Rydges in Queenstown. As the biggest hotel in town, the building itself is impressive. It’s right opposite [...]

Wedding Venues in Wanaka

February 11, 2011

Next on the list is Wanaka. It’s possible to fly into Wanaka, which could be an easy option for our Christchurch guests, but they do tend to be pricier than Queenstown flights. Alternatively, the drive from Christchurch takes just over 5 1/2 hours. For this trip, Wanaka will be a 1 hour drive from Queenstown [...]

Venue options in Cromwell

February 7, 2011

From Queenstown, I was thinking we could head to Cromwell. According to the very poor district website, there are lots of things to do in Cromwell, including “serious walks and picnics”. I’d like to try a serious picnic.. sounds extreme.

Venue options in Queenstown

February 3, 2011

We’re heading down South in a couple of weekends time to see what the region has to offer in the way of wedding venues. That part of the country is stunning, I’ve taken a day off work meaning we have to spend 3 whole days together, and we’re going to nose around some of the [...]

Terrace Downs

January 29, 2011

We ventured out to a potential wedding venue, Terrace Downs on Wednesday night for a tour around the property. It’s a golf resort just over an hours drive from Christchurch, bordered by the Rakaia Gorge and at the base of Mt Hutt. I was warned just the night before that there’s always a strong wind [...]
